Validating a complainant's address in ANOMS
Who is this article for?Noise office staff who need to validate a complainant's address so complaints can be matched to flights.
Access to the ANOMS Noise Analyst Workbench is required.
For ANOMS to correctly match a complaint to an operation, the complainant must be associated with a valid address — one with both latitude and longitude coordinates.
Understanding address validation
ANOMS uses the Validate Address function to check that the address given matches addresses in the database.
Note: A validated address is required to correctly match the complaint to an operation and noise event. Complaints without coordinates cannot be matched.
If the address cannot be found, use either:
- the Street Locator function
- the Select Map Location function
The Street Locator is available from the Complaints Editor and from the Map Browser.
Using the Street Locator
To locate a street address:
- Do one of the following:
- From Complaints Properties, click Street Locator.
- On the Map Browser toolbar, click Street Locator.
- From the Search Mode list, click Like.
- In the Street Address box, type the name of the street (you do not need the house number or street type).
- In the Zip Code box, type a valid postal code.
- Click Find.
- Select the required street from the list (the Search Mode changes to Exact).
- In the Address box, type the street number.
- Click Find.
The address is returned to the Complaints Properties window and displayed on the Map Browser.
Using Select Map Location
If the address is invalid and cannot be found with the Street Locator, you can pick the location directly from the map.
To select a location from the map:
- Click Select Map Location.
- On the Map Browser, click the location of the street.
The latitude and longitude coordinates are returned to the Complaints Properties window.
