Noise analysts who need to link ATC recordings to flight operations.

Access to the ANOMS Noise Analyst Workbench is required. ATC recording must be available at your site.

Multiple ATC recordings can be linked to one operation, and an ATC recording can also be linked to more than one operation, as a single recording may contain information for several operations and several recordings may relate to a single flight.

Understanding ATC correlation IDs

Linking ATC recordings works differently from standard manual correlation: traditional correlation IDs are not used. Instead, an ATC recording that is linked to an operation receives that operation's ID number as its Correlation ID.

Linking an ATC recording to an operation

To link ATC recordings to a flight operation:

1. Populate the Operations and ATC Recordings browsers using an LFDD query (Load Filtered Data — the standard ANOMS query dialogue).
2. Ensure Browser Linking (the option that synchronises selections between browsers) is turned off.
3. Select the operation you wish to link recordings to.
4. Select the ATC recording(s) you wish to link to the operation.
5. Right-click on the operation and select Correlation, then ATC Correlation.
6. In the left column, tick the box on a channel to select all recordings from that channel, or tick the box on an individual recording to enable it for playback.
7. Use the timeline field on the right to see when each recording occurred.
8. Press the Play button to play back any or all selected recordings.
9. Click on the Date and Time section of the recording to highlight it, then click Correlate to link the highlighted ATC recording to the operation.
10. Click Close to finish playback and correlation tasks for that operation.

Note: If the recordings are within the default time range, the ATC Recording Player appears with the Operation number displayed in the bottom left-hand corner. The red dots on the timeline indicate when a recording starts; as playback reaches a dot, it expands to represent the length (in time) of the recording. Some recordings may have occurred at the same time and will play simultaneously. Correlated ATC recordings take the Operation Number of the operation as their Correlation ID.
