Understanding noise event classification codes

Access to the ANOMS Noise Analyst Workbench is required. Classifications can be site-configured and may vary.
Every noise event in ANOMS carries a classification code that identifies the type of noise source.
Understanding the standard classification codes
The following table lists the standard classification codes and their meanings:
Code | Event name | Description |
1 | Single Local Aircraft | Noise events associated with individual local airport operations |
2 | Multiple Local Aircraft | Noise events associated with more than one local operation |
3 | Non-Local Aircraft | Overflights; noise events associated with individual and simultaneous non-local operations |
4 | Simultaneous Local and Non-Local Aircraft | Noise events associated with simultaneous local and non-local operations |
5 | Community Noise | Noise events and non-events not associated with aircraft operations |
6 | Simultaneous Community and Local Aircraft | Noise events associated with local operations occurring simultaneously with non-aircraft sources |
7 | Simultaneous Community and Non-Local Aircraft | Noise events associated with non-local aircraft operations occurring simultaneously with non-aircraft sources |
8 | Wind Noise | Noise events identified as having wind as a contributing source. This category may include noise events with aircraft or community contribution that occur simultaneously with wind |
9 | Equipment Malfunction | Noise events attributed to a malfunction of the monitoring equipment |
Viewing classifications in the Noise Events Browser
The Orig class column shows the classification assigned automatically by the system, whilst the Class column shows any user-applied reclassification.
Note: Classifications can be configured per site, so the codes available at your site may vary from the standard set above.
