Understanding data sources in ANOMS

ANOMS collects and processes data from multiple sources to provide comprehensive noise monitoring and flight tracking capabilities.
Understanding noise data
ANOMS acquires data from noise monitors placed around the airport and community. These monitors can be either fixed or portable.
You can access both historical and real-time noise data (where real-time access is enabled). Additionally, 20–30 seconds of audio is recorded during noise events, allowing you to review anomalous noise events.
Understanding flight track and operations data
Flight track and operations data are obtained from air traffic control systems, often on a delayed basis. ANOMS processes the track data during import, and the type of processing depends on the quality of the incoming track data.
The flight track monitoring system performs the following functions:
- Reads the track and plan data supplied by the radar interface
- Processes the data to form and smooth tracks
- Correlates tracks with flight plans
- Determines the operation type
- Determines the runway and time of operation
- Performs altitude corrections
- Places the data in the database
- Supplies the interface for viewing, analysing, and reporting on the data
Understanding complaints data
Complaints enter the system via a variety of methods, including manual entry and through a web portal. They are later matched to flight operations where possible.
Understanding weather data
Weather sensors, placed at selected noise monitoring sites or at other locations, produce data that is useful for analysing flight operation modes and noise. ANOMS stores wind speed and direction with noise events and keeps hourly weather data averages.
ANOMS can also store weather data from METAR weather files.
