Counting complainants by zone with Complainer Count
Who is this article for?Noise analysts who need to report complainant numbers by geographic area.
Access to the ANOMS Noise Analyst Workbench is required, and the optional Complainer Count plugin must be enabled for your site.
Complainer Count is an optional plugin that counts complainants in any active selection zone, enabling you to report on complainant numbers by geographic area.
Understanding Complainer Count
Complainer Count was introduced in 2025 and is not enabled by default. Contact Ideagen support to have it added to your system.
Note: Complainer Count counts the individuals or households making complaints, not the number of complaints.
Understanding how it works
When active, you can construct Query Generator queries that deliver complainer counts based on zone and time. Counts reflect complainant locations at the time of the query. For example, if a complainant's address moves to a different suburb and their location is updated, current queries show them in the new zone while older queries show them in the prior zone.
The functionality is accessed via the Query Generator, inside the Complainers table. You can query on particular zones and get complainer counts out of the query.

Using typical zone types
Complainer Count is commonly used for:
- Zones covering suburban boundaries or electoral areas
- Hotspots where a high complaint count has been observed
- Zones under intended flight path changes
