Managing and editing selection zones
Who is this article for?Noise analysts who maintain their airport's selection zones.
Access to the ANOMS Noise Analyst Workbench is required.
Over time you may accumulate many selection zones, so it's important to keep them organised and up to date.
Creating a selection zone folder
To create a new folder:
- Click the New Folder button on the Selection Zone panel.
- Click on the highlighted folder to open the field for editing.
- Enter a descriptive name for the folder.
- Press Enter to finish.
Organising selection zones
To move a zone between folders:
- Click and drag an existing selection zone from one folder to another.
Deleting folders and zones
To delete a zone:
- Right-click on the zone you wish to delete.
- Select Delete from the menu.
- Click Yes to confirm.
To delete a folder:
- Right-click on the folder.
- Select Delete.
- Click Yes to confirm.
Note: Deleting a folder also deletes any selection zones it contains.
Editing a selection zone
You can change a zone's dimensions, height, colour, transparency, and name after it has been created.
To edit a zone:
- On the Map Browser toolbar, click the Feature Manager button.
- Select the Zones tab.
- Click on the folder that contains the zone you wish to edit.
- Click on the zone to open the editing panel.
- Click in the Name field and change the name, if required.
- Tick the Annotation box to display the name of the zone on the Map Browser.
- Click in the Min or Max Height fields to enter a new height for the zone.
- Tick the Active box to make the zone active (ANOMS will then track and record any flight tracks that entered the zone).
- Change the transparency by moving the slider, if required.
- Click the coloured box to select a different colour for the zone, if required.
- Click to select a point in the Selection Zone Points window (you can delete a point by clicking the Delete Point button).
- Click the Add/Move button to enable point editing (the currently selected point turns red, and you can move any point by clicking and dragging it to a new location on the Map Browser).
- Click the Add/Move button again to stop editing.
- Click Save to save the changes.
Note: Zones with fewer than three points, or with intersecting segments, will not be saved.
