Filtering flight tracks using selection zones
Who is this article for?Noise analysts who need to isolate flights that passed through specific zones.
Access to the ANOMS Noise Analyst Workbench is required.
You can use selection zones to filter mapped tracks, keeping only the tracks that entered one displayed zone, all displayed zones, or none of them.
Filtering tracks with a selection zone
To filter tracks using a selection zone:
- Populate the Operations Browser with the set of tracks you want to analyse, using the LFDD or the Query Generator.
- Open the Feature Manager.
- Choose the Selection Zones tab.
- Select the desired selection zones by ticking the corresponding check boxes.
- Select the appropriate filter from the Filter Tracks drop-down box. The three options are:
- Keep tracks that go through at least one displayed zone
- Keep tracks that go through every displayed zone
- Keep tracks that do not go through any displayed zones
- Click the Filter button.
A progress bar appears while the filtering is calculated. Only the tracks that satisfy your selections appear on the Map Browser, and they are also selected in the Operations Browser. The other tracks are still present in the Operations Browser, but not selected.
Note: You can change the selected zones and filter again, but you must first re-select all flight tracks so they are displayed on the Map Browser.
