Who is this article for?

Noise analysts who need zone results for flights recorded before a zone existed.

Access to the ANOMS Noise Analyst Workbench is required.

Active selection zones are checked automatically each night, but if you have just created a zone you can run a manual analysis over historical flights to determine whether they entered (or did not enter) the zone.

Understanding selection zone analysis

Once a selection zone is set to Active, ANOMS runs a nightly analysis to determine whether each track entered the zone. The results can be used in Query Generator queries — for example, to quickly find flight tracks that entered restricted airspace.

Running selection zone analysis manually

To run a manual analysis on historical flights:

1. From the main menu, select Data.
2. Select Selection Zones Analysis.
3. Select a folder to select all zones in that folder, or open a folder to select individual zones.
4. Select the operations to analyse by entering a start date and time and an end date and time, using the drop-down date selector and time fields.
5. Click OK to begin the analysis.
6. Once finished, use the Query Generator to create a selection zone query based on the processed data.

Note: You can right-click in the folder and zone area and choose Check All, Check all Active, or Uncheck All. Use Expand All or Collapse All to show or hide the zones.
